Emmet Hall, Inchicore
D8 Development is a social enterprise that brings life back to empty properties. We take on projects where development has stalled and create beautiful and affordable spaces where people can live and work.
Emmet Hall was home to 1913 strike leader Michael Mallin, who was later executed for his part in the 1916 Rising. Mallin lived upstairs with his wife and five children, and used the hall to train the Inchicore-Crumlin section of the Irish Citizen Army. James Larkin was also a former owner and the hall hosted many activities of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union.
We spent 8 weeks renovating and restoring part of the building. Works included removal of substandard shop fit out, restoration of original ceiling, cleaning and restoring original brickwork, upgrading electrical and plumbing, and new OSB panelling fit out for a meeting room and display of artwork.
Patrick Costello TD has leased the shop for his constituency work in Inchicore. We can’t wait to see the community enjoying the space once again!
